click click – 10-02-10

Welcome to Click Click, the fairly regular roundup of what I find worth clicking on the internet.
- Donna Karan offers her idea for fixing the asynchronicity of the current fashion schedule – I can’t wait to see if she’ll follow through.
- Further on the degradation of knowledge in fashion, Cathy Horyn’s interview with a product specialist offers some sober insights.
- A terrific interview with Tom Ford on NPR. The best part is at the end when he discusses some of his most famous advertising images, and also his theory that the female form reflects the culture of the time. He says now is a “post-human” age.
- I’ve been following Robert Duffy on Twitter and adore his candour. This interview on Style.com offers more of that.
- The Selvedge Yard – so many treasures. Hat tips to Gala and Ryan for finding it first.
- This new Wrangler site is one of the hottest things I’ve ever seen on the internet – in a knock-over-a-male-model and rip-his-shirt-off sort of way. You’re welcome.
- I was going to write a post about this, but Style Rookie says it best for herself. Team Tavi, for the win.
Toronto-centric stuff…
- This generous contest is open to everyone in Ontario – 18Karat will be giving away one loose Canadian Diamond to the person who best answers this question, ‘Why Does Your Loved One Deserve a Diamond?’ Its so easy to enter – just send your answer to service@18karat.ca before February 13th and you might have a very special gift to give someone you love.
- The Make Den is a neat little basement studio at the Bloor West location of 69 Vintage, and among other things the maker herself, Irene, is teaching fashion to kids in the PACT program. I helped her teach a class on illustration and I was so delighted to see how much the students improved in just a couple hours.
Karma for commenters and linkers…
- mukuge – “are we really that altruistic? (something less extreme than yes/no please.)”
- The Thinking Fashionista features my paper dolls from last season among some fabulous historical examples.
- Fashionably Broke recaps a lovely lunch I shared with fellow bloggers Ginger Won’t Snap and Jaka’s Tea Party.
