fashion illustrated – pattern puzzle

Its been far too long since my last extra-curricular illustration post, eh? Today I tried the pattern puzzle at Fashion-Incubator. Kathleen offered up this amazing no-waste pattern by Timo Rissanen and challenged us to show the design.

This is what I came up with:
Below the fold is the actual garment, in case you want to try it yourself.
… and this is Timo’s hoodie, showing just how incredibly far off my guess was. Ah well, it was fun to try!

Danielle this is great! I want to give it a try too.
Wow! genius.
So cool! Thanks for the post, I’m interested in this concept now.
Thanks for giving it a go, Danielle! And since I haven’t commented here before (I think), thanks for the blog. I’ve been a quiet reader since about 2006 (you were still working on your final collection). Your live drape post is one of my favourite blog posts of all time; I can’t imagine how stressful that would have been.
Given that the photo isn’t that illustrative as to how armhole/sleeve area and the hood work, I’ll try and post some way of visual and verbal explanation shortly.
Thanks again!
