just a thought – keeping resolutions
So how did your January go? Did you make any resolutions this year, and have they held up so far? They say it takes about 3 weeks to install a good habit.
As you may remember, I resolved to post on this blog at least 5 times a week. I have kept this resolution! In fact, over the course of the past few weeks, I have even exceeded that goal every so often. The momentum of increased posting gets me all inspired sometimes. I feel good about it, not only has there been more action in the comments section, I got a shoutout in NOW, and there has also been an increase in traffic. Hi everyone! Thanks for coming!
There is one change I want to make to the posting schedule I’ve created. I think that Tuesday is not the best day for the Karma posts – I thought it would be good because people would have all weekend to do the little interview, but in reality, people are not on the internet on the weekend (unlike myself – see above graph). Monday is just too hectic for people to take time out to answer an email interview. I feel like I am burdening my subjects a bit which is the opposite of what the Karma post is supposed to be all about. So starting next week, Karma posts will be on Thursdays, and I’ll switch Click Click to Tuesdays.
The rest of my resolutions… the ones about keeping better records, saving money, and working regular hours? I’ve been so much better at keeping records. I created a better invoice template and have been entering all my expenses and stuff into Excel. For saving, I set up one of the new tax-free savings accounts and have been dropping 20% of all my revenues into it. Once the templates were set up, those resolutions were easy to keep and easy to measure.
The one resolution I failed to keep – working regular hours. I just have to admit – I don’t want to do it. I like that I work whenever the need arises or inspiration hits me. I like being able to take a long break to make some tasty food or whatever. It was a silly resolution because there is no good reason to do it.
I think the best strategy for keeping resolutions is to make resolutions you want to keep. As I said before, my attitude towards making goals has been more about schedule and process than outcome, and I think that has been really helpful to me.
How about you? Did you make resolutions, and did you keep them? Why or why not? Have you been enjoying the new blogging schedule on Final Fashion? Any suggestions for making it better?
Also, its not too late to make that life change this year if you are ready to… check out the iCing Transformation Challenge that Gala Darling has going on this month if you need a little motivation.

Danielle!
I’m so impressed with your dedication and organization! Graphs??!!!??? that is truely impressive. Also a february new-years-resolution check in is a bang up idea. Glad to hear that yours is going strong.
Congratulations! That’s amazing.
I confess, I don’t make New Year’s resolutions per se, but this year I promised myself a reward for getting through our local winter man made disaster — the two month long transit strike!
You have money to save?
Auntie, thanks for asking. I have a very small amount of money to save, my goal is to have a buffer of a couple months living expenses, for emergencies.
Naamers, the graph is just from my statcounter. Thanks for the congrats =) How’s Lulu treating you?
My resolutions of Actions and Positivity are really working. Even though it’s February, a much dreaded month in some quarters, I feel like I’m getting a lot done. :)
