Of course, I have an alternative theory. Everyone is downscaling now in anticipation of Moose Jaw Fashion Week 2012. How can anyone compete with that? I know, right?

I agree with your predictions. The major Fashion Weeks will never die, and the Vera Wang’s and Betsey Johnson’s of the world will be back, when Fashion Week stock goes back up. It is too diluted now!

a counter-trend you fail to mention is the increasing number of designers forgoing the real fashion show for the online fashion film.

Fail, aw! I did link up Viktor & Rolf in paragraph 7! Still I think you are right it deserves more emphasis, and the other examples you bring up is great.
