paper doll – VAWK SS10
One thing I adore about Sunny Fong’s designs is how they manage to be incredibly inventive, flawlessly executed and at the same time exquisitely tasteful – its a combination of qualities that few designers can match and yet it seems like Sunny does it every time. He showed a very tightly edited 12 pieces for his VAWK label, among which there were perfect cutouts, elaborate piecework, and one spiral-pleated white minidress which just confounds me – how did he do that?

I speechless… you know :)
Those cutout/burnout dresses were fascinating. Like I mentioned when he won PRC, however, I don’t know if he’s prepared to learn anything from his first flirtation with insolvency. It all seemed so expensive and even a little inaccessible.
Well, I was there and I can’t say I was blown away by this collection. The perforated leather garments and the nautilus mini(dammit, I have the same design!XC) were interesting, though. The rest were meh. His PRC collection was stronger IMO.
Oh WOW! Unexpected find here – love the paper dolls in general but this VAWK one made me jump up and down. I love Sunny’s designs. Wish there was a paper doll version of his dress he created for the White Cashmere Collection – that would be both beautiful and ironic, considering it was made from a type of paper. If you haven’t seen it – http://www.cashmere.ca … you can see why I am so excited about it.
