When in NYC, you must try to eat just one meal from the plentitude of street vendors. They offer a variety of fares, although some of the “coaches” with built in ‘char grills serve some awesome souvlaki and Middle Eastern staples. Don’t worry about sanitation issues.They are well policed and I don’t know anyone who has died from eating NYC “street meat”.
If that doesn’t turn your crank, try the famous 95 cent Hotdog emporiums like Gray’s Papaya. US sliders are so much tastier than CDN dogs. They use much better chemicals in them.

Looking forward to meeting you. Funny,I never thought of buying fabric. Mood is an institution, but you might find MoMA more interesting… The FIT museum is also good, but I don’t know what is exhibiting now. I say just wander around and eat well. The rest will take care of itself.

Danielle,
Canada has a population of around 32.4 million people. NYC is big in population for sure, but I think your numbers are off a wee bit. According to Rand McNally (2005), NYC’s population is 8.1 million. The state’s population is 19.3 million ranking it the 3rd most populous state in the US.

Do enjoy your visit to NYC. Wear very comfortable footwear.

yay for NYC! I agree, you have to hit Paron, and Mood too… heck, hit the entire garment district. And you have to go to the Prada skirts exhibit, etc, etc, etc…

I wish I could meet up with y’all, it’s just lack of time for me. Ohhh, I’m so tempted. How long are you going for? You might like the FIT museum, the Cooper Hawitt design museum, and you also see Bergdorf, which is like a museum. And you must go to Soho no doubt. Oh, and the garment district for a walk around, if you want to get fabrics and trim. Go to Paaron Fabrics, the address is somewhere in my blog.
