what I wear – FW09 Butikofer wool coat

Today is the first snowy day of the year in Toronto – well sort of, it is just rainy and slushy now. But it means the end of the season for one of my favourite wardrobe additions of the year – this wool jacket, a sample from the FW09 Butikofer collection.

I created the pattern for this sample myself when I was assisting the designer, Adrienne. It met a couple glitches along the way – OK, I made the sleeves slightly too short, and the sample sewer put the buttonholes on the wrong way – but none of those things matter anymore. Now it is just the first nice jacket I have owned that fits perfectly between fall jackets and winter parkas. It has ideal pockets for stuffing my hands into, a big transformable collar (click for big) and it is roomy enough to fit a chunky sweater underneath. Best of all – it was never put into production, so it is one of a kind.

LOVE your jacket! it’s sculptural but subtle. May i suggest you check out the Swacket by Harputs (i think) if you haven’t already, it’s quite an interesting and versatile piece.
Aah something about the Toronto air in winter makes me all nostalgic. Hope you have a lovely end of year, Happy Holidays and may all your wishes come true in the coming year. xo
Nice jacket! I hope you wear the shit out of it. (I mean that in a good way)
