what’s in my bag – sketching in Milan

meme,trips,what I wear — Danielle on January 13, 2012 at 8:13 am

Guess what? I am going to Moda Uomo in Milan. I feel like I’ve finally perfected my fashion week packing, so I thought I’d add another entry to the old “what’s in your bag” meme. Because it’s a sketching trip, studio supplies take precedence over clothes. I try to fit everything in a small suitcase, so as a small person I can get around on my own.

    2. I wish I could be that disciplined with packing for short trips. Looks like you’re all sorted! Oh, and you’ll love Freedom – I’m reading it at the moment – it’s fantastically written.
      Have a great time!

    3. Snacks?

My problem is always shoes – I tend to bring too many pairs and buy too many pairs when I’m going on a trip!

    4. Oh, I love the science of good packing! The minor OCD in me just thrills at the successful execution of fascian+ efficiency. The first scene of “Up in the Air” is like porn.

    6. I love trying to pack as little as possible for trips now. It’s a fun challenge and it’s cool to see how mix-and-match you can get with limited resources. Is that a small Samsonite suitcase? Have a great trip!

    7. I absolutely minimize what I pack on trips. I made the mistake one year of packing for Armageddon and the airline lost my luggage. I got it back the day before I departed to go back home. The whole time all I could do was sit there and stew over the imaginary price tag of what it was I’d just lost. I think my mental tally reached something close to 1500$. They’d managed to lose 3 of our very large bags which I had packed up with 3 peoples belongings that was supposed to hold us over for 2 weeks. It was awful. Ever since then, I don’t care how long the trip, each person has only carry ons. We make it work. Good luck in Milan. It will be lovely to see what material you come back with.

    9. What kind of scanner would you bring on a trip? Truly curious.

    10. Hi Elle,

It’s my usual scanner, which is just an A4 powered with only a USB cord. It’s about the same size as my laptop but doesn’t weigh as much.
